Composed of trachyandesite, the volcanic hill\u2019s shape is characterized by steep and rugged slopes which are associated with the intense volcanic activity that caused magma to rise 19.3-18.2 million years ago. The activity that created this volcanic dome is responsible for the formation of a series of other volcanic domes that are scattered throughout western Lemnos.<\/p>\n<p>During this period of time, viscous magma with a high content of potassium and silicon permeated into the geological formation through faults in the earth\u2019s crust. This resulted in the general uplifting of the area.
