By following a small, narrow path down to the shore, the visitor will be greeted by a big cavern with a big overhead opening that extends into the sea. This path is not the only entrance into the cave.<\/p>\n<p>In Greek mythology, Philoctetes was the hero to whom Hercules gave his bow and arrows. According to legend, Philoctetes was healed from a snake bite by staying in the cave for ten years and by the healing powers of Lemnian Earth.
