It is located in the city center and is regarded as the city&#8217;s second most important church after the Evangelistria.<\/p>\n<p>It was constructed in 1835 and is three-aisled with an exonarthex, built later, while previous stages of the church date back to 1370, according to sources.<\/p>\n<p>The church&#8217;s remarkable wooden iconostasis is supposed to be a duplicate of the iconostasis of the church of Smyrna, St. Fotini, and was crafted out of Mount Athos chestnut wood.<\/p>\n<p>In the arch above the windows, there is a stone cross in the wall of the church\u2019s stonework, as well as an ancient marble inscription.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Taxiarchis Moudrou Church is also known as the Temple of the Archangels.
