Church of the Nativity of Christ

The Church of the Nativity of Christ in the town of Romanou on Lemnos is one of the most remarkable structures in the area. It was built in 1830 and serves as the town cemetery church. The Church of the Nativity of Christ is a three-aisled basilica built in the local architectural style. The exonarthex’s neo-Gothic windows, pear-shaped ornamental patterns, and carved capitals are distinguishing features of the temple’s identity.

The Imvros hagiographer Efstratios Haimantes is mainly responsible for decorating the church of the Nativity of Christ in Romanou with all of the icons, including the wood-carved iconostasis displaying depictions of the Bible.
