Avlona Gorge

The stream of the Avlona Gorge, found to the west of the Kornos village, makes its way through the sedimentary rocks and runs into the sea on a beach north of Myrina.

The Avlona Gorge was formed in the area’s sedimentary rocks of sandstone and siltstone alternations about 33 million years old. A normal fault with NE-SW orientation runs parallel to the stream bed displacing the sandstone rocks and resulting in a small waterfall.
