Cape Kavalaris Fault

The extension of Roussopouli fault leads to the formation of Kavalaris Cape on the east coast of Lemnos.
The tectonic structure may be seen east of the church of Agia Kyriaki, where parallel ruptured surfaces define the volcanic rocks and construct the shoreline to Keros Bay.

The Roussopouli Fault runs for roughly 10 km in a NE-SW direction and separates the Lower Miocene pyroclastic rocks from the Oligocene sedimentary formations overlaid by recent alluvial and coastal deposits.
